Area libraries Offer Big Help
If you’re struggling to keep your small business afloat or launch a new one, a library might seem like the last place you’d look for advice.
And you’d be wrong!
As noted in a recent post at KCSourceLink, the region’s libraries are rich in resources on financing, strategies and more. Tax planning, marketing opportunities even specifics like starting a food service business are available.
One of our favorites is the Mid-Continent Public Library system, which operates branches throughout the Northland. However, KCSourceLink also cites the Kansas City Public Library, Johnson County, and others throughout the metro area.
Major Opportunity
The depth of these resources is astounding. Mid-Continent, for example, has data like regional demographics that business owners can use for market research.
All the area’s major library systems offer free physical and digital access to books, trade publications and business publications like “The Wall Street Journal.” In addition to paper, there are people to point you in the right direction. Other resources can be viewed online.
Both Kansas City Public Library and Mid-Continent Public Library offer classes and workshops covering a wide array of topics from how to write a business plan to the ins and outs of intellectual property. Many sessions are offered both in person and virtually. And you can find library (no pun intended!) of past presentations on Kansas City Public Library’s YouTube channel and Square One’s YouTube channel.
Still More
To stay up to date on upcoming opportunities, check out the event calendars for Johnson County Public Library, Kansas City, Kansas Public Library, Kansas City Public Library and Square One at Mid-Continent Public Library.
